Question:
If a woman is in nifaas but she is not bleeding a lot its kind of like spotting will she wait the 40 days?
Like 1 day she spots and then the next day she dosent
She is nifaas from her first child.
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
The blood which comes out after the delivery of a child is called Nifaas (postpartum period). The maximum limit for Nifaas is forty days. There is no minimum period for Nifass.
It is not necessary to see continuous bleeding during the period of Nifaas.
In the enquired situation, any blood seen up to forty days after childbirth will be considered as Nifaas.
Whenever the bleeding stops within the forty-day period and she is certain that the bleeding will not continue, then she will perform Ghusl and commence performing her Salah etc. If the blood resumes, then it will be regarded as Nifaas within the forty-day period.
The amount of days she bled should be noted as it will become her habit of Nifaas.

(ولو ولدت) أي :المبتدأة ( فانقطع دمها ) بعد ساعة مثلا (ثم رأت آخر الأربعين ) أي :في آخر يوم منها ( دما فكله نفاس) لما مر في المقدمة أن الطهر المتخلل في الاربعين قليلا كان أو كثيرا كله نفاس؛ لأن الأربعين في النفاس كالعشرة في الحيض ، وجميع ما تخلل في العشرة حيض فكذا في الأربعين

(والنفاس كالحيض) في الأحكام المذكورة ( غير أنه يجب الغسل فيه كلما انقطع على كل حال ) سواء كان قبل ثلاثة أو بعدها ؛ لأنه لا أقل له ، ففي كل انقطاع يحتمل خروجها من النفاس فيجب الغسل ، بخلاف ما قبل الثلاث في الحيض
