A Mothers Dua for Daughter to Conceive

What Dua or supplication can a mother make on behalf of her daughter to conceive a child my daughter is married for 8years and has been through quite a few medical tests and procedures.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Sister in Islam,

We take note of your distress and emotions.

At the outset, one should understand and acknowledge that it is Almighty Allah Alone who decrees whether a woman will be fertile or barren. Almighty Allah says in the Holy Quran, Surah Shuraa, Verse 49-50,

Translation: “To Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He creates whatsoever he wishes. He bestows female (offspring) to whomsoever he wishes and bestows male (offspring) to whomsoever he wishes. Or he grants both male and female and he renders barren whomsoever he wishes. Verily, He is All-knowing and has the power to do anything.”

Patience and hope is key in such a situation. Almighty Allah granted Ismail and Ishaaq (Alaihimas Salaam) to Ibrahim and Saarah (Alaihimas Salaam) in extreme old age.

Almighty Allah hastily accepts the dua a mother makes for her child. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said,[1]

قال رسول الله – صلى الله عليه وسلم -: “ثلاث دعوات يستجاب لهن، لا شك فيهن: دعوة المظلوم، ودعوة المسافر، ودعوة الوالد لولده

Translation: “Three duas are accepted, without doubt. The dua of the oppressed, the dua of a traveller, and the dua of a parent for their child.”

Recite the following verse of the Qur’ān frequently and intend the offspring of your daughter.[2]

رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ ذُرِّيَّةً طَيِّبَةً إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ الدُّعَاءِ

Translation: “My Lord, grant me from Yourself a good offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of supplication.” (Sūrah Āl `Imrān, Verse 38)

Mawlānā Ashraf `Alī Thānwī (Rahimahullāh) states that if a barren woman fasts for 7 days and breaks her fast with water, then reads the following, Inshā Allāh she will soon conceive:

اَلْبَارِئُ اَلْمُصَوِّرُ

Transliteration: Al-Baari Al-Musawwir.

Translation: “Oh Creator, the Fashioner!”

Together with all the above, pray two rakaats Salaatul Haajah and implore Allah to bless your daughter with a child.

Finally, submit to taqdeer and the will of Almighty Allah. Submission to taqdeer is compulsory and an act of ibadah. Whatever Almighty Allah decrees for anyone is the best. He is Al-Hakeem (The All-Wise). Trust in the decision of Almighty Allah and be content with that.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
