Is lazer therapy for hair loss permissible?


Assalamu Alaikum

My question is about lazer therapy for hair loss, the Advanced hair

studio does lazer therapy to make hair grow back/ implant new hair

into the scalp,is this permissible?

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Sister in Islam,

Lazer therapy is defined as follows “Laser therapy is the therapeutic application of coherent, monochromatic light at low intensities. This therapy is applied using either a low intensity laser diode (250 milliwatts or less) or an array of high intensity super luminous diodes (providing total optical power in the 1000-2000 milliwatt range).The light source is placed in contact with the skin allowing the photon energy to penetrate tissue, where it interacts with various intracellular biomolecules resulting in the restoration of normal cell morphology and function. In short, laser therapy adds energy to living systems and enhances the body’s natural healing processes.”[1]

We understand from the above definition that the concept of laser therapy does not incorporate hair transplants.

Laser therapy is permissible with the following conditions:

1. The color of the new hair does not differ with the color of the original hair. There must be no deception in the appearance of the new hair.

2. The therapy is only for treating a defect or abnormality.

3. The therapy is not harmful to one’s health. One should consider the many side effects and harms of laser therapy. Consult with a reliable expert doctor before proceeding with the therapy.

Human hair transplant is not permissible.[2]

 والادمي مكرم شرعا و ان كان كافرا فايراد العقد عليه و ابتذاله به و الحاقه بالجمادات اذلال له اي وهو غير جائز و بعضه في حكمه و صرح في فتح القدير ببطلانه. المرجع السابق
