Revert asking about Qadha Salaah

Question:
I am a revert such that even though i was Muslim i never understood Islam how i do now alhumdulillah. In my zamana e jahiliat i have missed prayers due to not knowing and learning about masail of paaki etc i have started from few days to do qaza umri but it scares me to think how many yrs would i have to do and will Allah forgive me.Please make dua for me to grow in beneficial knowledge and become a person who Allah is pleased with

 Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

You state that it scares you to think how many years it would take to fulfil the missed salaah and whether Allah Ta’ala will forgive you. You should rather focus on the tawfeeq (ability) Allah Ta’ala has given you to understand Islam better now and to commence making qadhaa of your missed salaah. The better understanding of Islam and making qadhaa of the missed salaah is a tawfeeq from Allah Ta’ala. What if you did not have this tawfeeq?

Just as Allah Ta’ala gave you tawfeeq to commence the qadhaa salaah, Allah Ta’ala will also give you tawfeeq to be steadfast on fulfilling the qadhaa salaahs. The fact that Allah Ta’ala gave you tawfeeq is an indication that Allah Ta’ala wishes to forgive you.

                                                                                                            Our advice is, thank Allah Ta’ala for the tawfeeq and be positive and steadfast. An easy way of making qadhaa is to perform one qadhaa salaah with each present salaah. For example, during Zuhr of today, perform one Zuhr qadhaa etc.[1]

باب قضاء الفوائت

ومن فاتته الصلاة قضاها إذا ذكرها وقدمها لزوما على صلاة الوقت إلا أن يخاف فوات صلاة الوقت فيقدم صلاة الوقت ثم يقضيها فإن فاتته صلوات رتبها في القضاء كما وجبت في الأصل إلا أن تزيد الفوائت على ست صلوات فيسقط الترتيب فيها

وأما إذا صارت ستاً فأكثر فلا يلزمه الترتيب؛ لما فيه من الحرج؛ ولذا قال: (إلا أن تزيد الفوائت على ست صلوات) وكذا لو كانت ستاً، والمعتبر خروج وقت السادسة في الصحيح، إمداد (فيسقط الترتيب فيها) : أي بينها، كما سقط فيما بينها وبين الوقتية، ولا يعود الترتيب بعودها إلى القلة على المختار كما في التصحيح
