I love a man who lives abroad. We are serious with each other. Due to immigration status he can’t come in England. I live in England and he lives outside England. Can we perform Nikaah via any communication system so that we can talk with each other freely. Please help.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
You state that you desire to get married to a man who lives abroad and he cannot move to England. Marriage in Islam is a lifetime commitment. It is not just a means of communication. You should consider all aspects carefully before making a decision to marry.
If you desire to marry the man abroad, you may do by proxy. Hereunder is the procedure.
The appointed representative will read the letter to you or your representative and then propose to you.
In response to that, you or your representative agree to the marriage. This should be done in the presence of two male witnesses or one male and two female witnesses who must be sane, mature and Muslim.
