‘’The month of Ramadhan in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people…’’
{Al Baqarah-2:185}.
The graceful month of Ramadhan has set in; the month, during which the gates of Mercy are wide open, the gates of Hell are shut and the Shayateen are chained up. The month of the Quran,in which the Quran was revealed. It is a month chosen by Allah Azza wajal as a month of the Quran and fasting; the act’s of Ibadat that Allah Azza wajal made special to Him.
Rasulullah Sallallāhu Alayhi Wasallam said: obtain Barakah and blessings from the Quran for it is the spoken word of Allah.
Just as a magnet draws items of metal similarly does the Quran draw the mercy of Allah. It was the habit of the pious to recite the Quran abundantly in the Month of Ramadhaan. Hazrat Sheikh Zakariyyah (Ramatullahi alayh) writes: I am greatly pleased seeing how the womenfolk vie with each other, trying to recite more Quran than the others, in spite of domestic responsibilities,15-20 juz of the Quran is read by one daily. Our pious have experienced the blessings of the Quran. We too can experience it. The Quran is the same, its blessings are the same, but our hearts are different. When we build a connection with the Quran we too will experience the blessings and power of the Quran.
When reciting the Quran, condition the mind to think Allah is talking to you. This will assist in enjoying the recitation of the Quran and deriving maximum benefit from it. Hazrat –e- Aqdas Moulana Shah Hakeem Muhammad Akhtar Saheb(Damat Barakaatuhum) mentions that when one intends to recite the Quran, ponder that Allah has commanded, “recite my speech to me, let me see how you recite”. Ponder that when you recite the Quran in front of some high ranking person, then how beautifully you attempt to recite. When Allah is most definitely listening, then how much more beautifully should you attempt to recite. Whilst reciting, if one becomes unmindful, then renew this thought. After practicing for some time, the heart will easily concentrate. Create an environment of Quran reading at home. Read as much Quran as you can.
Dear sisters; Ramadan is not about showing off the talented Chef in you, but about purifying your soul. Instead of spending several hours in the kitchen trying out new recipes and preparing lavish meals, Why not spend only an hour making a simple dish that is enough for your family and seize every second of your time in things that would increase your rewards in this beautiful Month. This is the month wherein the rewards for all good deeds are multiplied by 70 or more.So for each letter we recite of the Quran we will gain 70 or more rewards. Subhanallah! how generous and merciful is Allah Azza Wajal! Can you imagine how much more rewards we will be adding to our scales if we recite the entire Quran just once! How about twice?
Make the primary focus of your day to be Ibadah and Quran recitation. Many have the impression that Ramadan is a month of decorating the Iftar table with all kinds of lavish and elaborate foods. We should realize that Ramadan is not about forbidding ourselves from food but about nourishing our souls with good deeds. Reading the Quran nourishes the soul the way healthy, nutritious food rejuvenates the body. So start feeding your soul! Set yourself daily targets of how much Qur’an you will recite and devote much of your worship on reciting the Qur’an as it is the month of the Qur’an.Compete with members of your household in completing the Quran. At the least, compete with your own previous deeds by making an intention to recite more this year than last year.
let us make this month of Ramadhan, the month of recitation of the Qur’an, the month of prayer, the month of worship, the month of re-invigorating our Iman and purifying our hearts.
