I wanted to know if I should start Niqab, I am 12 years old and just hit puberty . My mom wants me to wear niqab. and my dad is totally against it . So should i do it. I am short for my age. I wanted to know is it allowed in Islam to wear high heels?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

As-salāmu ʿalaykum wa-raḥmatullāhi wa-barakātuh

You have mentioned that you have just become bāligh. In Islām, once a boy or girl becomes bāligh, all the obligations of Shariʿah become binding on him/her and he/she will be taken to task for the sins he/she commits.

Amongst the injunctions of the Shariʿah is that a person protects his/her chastity. By veiling your face from the view of strange boys, you will be protecting your chastity and thus, earning the pleasure of Allah Taʿālā.

Therefore, you should follow the guidance of your mother and start donning the Niqāb (face veil).

You have mentioned that you feel very short. A Muslim should always be thankful to Allah Taʿālā for the way Allah Taʿālā has created him/her. There is surely nothing wrong with being short. Virtue and excellence is only based on a person’s piety.

It is not permissible to wear such high-heeled shoes that make a noise when walking by which they attract attention. As for high-heeled shoes that do not make such a noise when walking, it will be permissible to wear such shoes.

And Allah Taʿālā Knows Best

  1. Assalamu alaikum,
you have send a very good question,as your mother want that you wear purdah and as you are baligh now it is wajib for you to wear it,and you will get great reward from Allah, one because you obey the command of Allah and the second because you have obey your mother as it is obligatory to obey once parent.

  2. As salaam alykum

What is the aqeedah of the murabitoon?

  3. I am a 12 yr old too! niqab is a choice, so i think u should think about it hard

  4. Assalamu3amlykum,
I am 14 years old and became baligh at the age of 10. My parents wanted me to do niqaab and at that time I was quite short, but frankly, when I started doing niqaab and felt quite a bit uncomfortable and was often uneasy.
When I went to school I was troubled so much by my teachers, friends etc. Even my relatives and family friends were sooo disapproving of it and they said we’d never get married, the same they said to my mum!
This was so bothering that I wanted to stop doing it but my parents gave me lectures that knocked me back into my senses. ;-)
I still struggle with these problems but I have gradually learned that wearing niqaab has been such a blessing for me and indeed I cannot be thankful enough! Alhamdulillah… :)) My big sister also wears niqaab and she is as glad to do it as me.

Trust me, it will be worth it…
I hope you’re also doing niqaab, sis; despite the fact that your dad is disapproving for it. Allah will reward you immensely, InshaAllah.

    Warmest salaams,
    A sister in Islam
